TyneMet Football Excellence Student Signs Professional Contract with Middlesbrough FC U21s

Tyne Metropolitan College is proud to announce that Football Excellence Programme student, Jack Daley, has signed a two-year professional contract with Middlesbrough FC U21s, marking an exciting new chapter in his football journey.

Jack has just completed the two-year Football Excellence course, delivered in partnership with Blyth Spartans AFC, where he studied a Level 3 Sport qualification while training in a professional football environment. His dedication both on and off the pitch has earned him a well-deserved place in Middlesbrough FC’s U21s squad, where he will play as a centre-back in the upcoming season starting this August.

Over the past two years, Jack has achieved remarkable milestones in his development. He captained the Blyth Spartans Academy team during their impressive FA Youth Cup run, reaching the second round proper – the furthest the team has progressed in five years. His leadership and performance on the field stood out throughout the competition.

Further highlighting his talent, in July 2024, Jack travelled with his team to New York City to compete in the NYC Cup, where the squad returned as champions, claiming double titles and representing TyneMet and Blyth Spartans AFC on an international stage.

Jack’s consistent drive, discipline, and technical growth during the course have helped pave the way for this incredible opportunity. After impressing during his trial, he secured a contract with Middlesbrough FC, showcasing the true impact of the Football Excellence programme in developing future professionals.

Marc Nash, Head Coach of the Football Excellence Programme, commented:

We’re incredibly proud of Jack and all he has achieved. Watching his development over the past two years has been a real privilege. His dedication, attitude, and natural ability have taken him to the next level, and seeing him sign with Middlesbrough FC U21s is a fantastic reward for all his hard work. We can’t wait to see what he does next.

TyneMet is currently recruiting for the Football Excellence Programme in partnership with Blyth Spartans AFC starting this September for young players aged 16–18 who are passionate about developing their football skills while gaining a high-quality sports education.
